Dehradun has an unusual mix of places that need static control. There are defence research and optics laboratories, national research institutes, pharma plants in Selaqui, government and institutional server rooms, and a growing number of hospitals with modern operation theatres. Our team is based in Roorkee, close enough to handle site surveys, installation and later retesting without long travel.

Research and defence labs

Labs working on optics, sensors, instrumentation and electronics often run formal ESD programmes. Their floors need to be static dissipative within a defined range, clean enough for sensitive work and documented with test records. Because these labs may be in older institutional buildings, we often find terrazzo or mosaic floors that need careful preparation before the ESD layers go down.

We build these floors to your specified range, test them and hand over the readings. Later repairs can be done and retested section by section.

Selaqui pharma plants

In pharma units, static control is mainly about safety in powder handling and solvent areas. The floor type and resistance range come from the plant's safety assessment. We lay antistatic self levelling systems that also meet GMP needs: jointless, coved and cleanable. For a fuller explanation, see our notes on pharma antistatic flooring in Baddi.

Server rooms and hospital OTs

Government offices, universities and companies in Dehradun run server rooms that often have tiled floors or bare concrete under raised floors. An antistatic floor or sub-floor coating controls dust and static. Hospitals use antistatic floors in operation theatres and ICUs, built with coved skirting for infection control.

Dehradun's weather and static

Dehradun is humid for much of the year, so static problems can go unnoticed in the monsoon and then appear in dry winter months. A permanent floor-based system works consistently through the seasons.

The same humidity is a challenge during installation, though. Damp slabs are common, especially on ground floors. We test moisture on every job. On damp slabs we use a suitable primer or barrier layer, because moisture under a resin floor causes blistering and can affect its electrical performance.

The installation

  • Confirm the required resistance range and floor type
  • Test moisture and check flatness
  • Grind and repair the existing floor
  • Lay the copper grid to earthing points
  • Apply the conductive primer
  • Lay the antistatic or ESD finish, with coves where needed
  • Earthing connection by your electrician
  • Test resistance and hand over readings

Keeping the floor performing

Train cleaning staff not to use wax or polish. Make ESD footwear part of entry to the protected area. Use ESD-safe mats and chair castors. Retest periodically, and after any damage or repair. Since we are nearby, periodic retesting is easy to arrange.

FAQs

Can an ESD floor be laid over old terrazzo?

Usually yes. The terrazzo is ground, loose areas are replaced and cracks are repaired before the copper grid and ESD layers are installed.

Can you retest our floor every year?

Yes. Being based in Roorkee makes periodic retesting in Dehradun straightforward.

Do lab benches need to be removed?

It's better if they can be moved, but we can work around fixed benches and make sure the areas under and around them connect to the grid.
