Chemical resistant flooring in Delhi

Delhi's chemical floor problems are spread across very different places. Steel processing and pickling units in Wazirpur use hot acids. Small electroplating shops in older industrial areas deal with acids and metal salts. Hospital and testing labs spill reagents, data centres have battery rooms, and factories have effluent treatment rooms full of corrosive water. Each needs a floor chosen for the chemicals it actually faces.

Steel pickling and processing

Pickling removes scale from steel using hydrochloric or sulphuric acid, often warm. Acid-laden water drips from coils and bundles as they come out of the tanks, and fumes settle on everything. Ordinary concrete in these areas turns into sand. Standard epoxy blisters and peels.

For these areas we typically recommend a vinyl ester or novolac epoxy system, or acid resistant tiles bedded and grouted in chemical resistant mortar where there is heavy impact from steel handling. The choice depends on acid type, temperature and how rough the handling is. Pickling areas also need falls to acid resistant drains and sumps, and coved, lined plinths and bund walls.

Electroplating and metal finishing

Delhi's small plating shops often work in tight spaces with tanks close to walls. Acid splashes reach walls and door thresholds as well as floors. We line the floor, cove it up the walls to splash height and line tank bunds as one continuous system. That way, spills are contained instead of running under the building.

Labs and hospitals

Pathology, research and quality labs handle acids, alkalis and solvents in small quantities. The floor needs occasional splash resistance rather than immersion resistance. A chemical resistant epoxy self levelling floor is usually suitable, with a stronger lining under fume hoods and in acid stores.

Battery rooms

UPS and forklift battery rooms with lead-acid batteries need floors that resist sulphuric acid. Novolac epoxy linings with coved edges are the usual choice. Battery rooms also need ventilation for hydrogen gas and, in many cases, antistatic properties. We check both requirements.

Effluent and water treatment rooms

ETP and STP rooms handle acidic or alkaline effluent, chlorine compounds and hydrogen sulphide, which attacks concrete from above as well. Floors, channels and tank walls benefit from a chemical resistant lining chosen for the effluent's chemistry.

FAQs

Is acid proof epoxy paint enough for a pickling area?

No. Thin epoxy paints fail quickly under hot acid and steel handling. Pickling areas need a thicker, specifically chemical resistant system.

Can you work in a running unit in Wazirpur?

Yes, section by section. Acid-soaked concrete has to be removed and neutralised first, so each section needs to be taken out of use for several days.

Do you line walls and tank bunds too?

Yes. Containment works best when floor, walls to splash height and bund walls are lined as one system.
