Ghaziabad's industrial belt includes steel processing, wire and tube units, paint and chemical manufacturers along Meerut Road and Bulandshahr Road, and large warehouses with fleets of electric forklifts. Chemical damage to floors shows up in each of them in a different way: acid-eaten concrete in pickling bays, solvent-softened coatings in paint shops, and corroded slabs in battery charging areas and effluent plants.

Steel pickling and processing

Wire, tube and sheet processors pickle steel in hydrochloric or sulphuric acid to remove scale. Acid drips from coils as they are lifted out of the tanks, fumes condense on the floor, and heavy steel is moved by cranes and forklifts. Floors here face strong acids and severe mechanical damage at the same time.

Options for pickling bays include:

  • Vinyl ester or novolac epoxy screeds, several millimetres thick with hard aggregate, for areas with acid and moderate impact
  • Acid resistant tiles or bricks bedded and jointed in chemical resistant mortar, for the heaviest impact zones
  • Lined sumps and channels so acid doesn't collect under the floor

Tank bunds and walls to splash height are lined as part of the same system.

Paint and chemical manufacturers

Paint, resin and adhesive units handle solvents, pigments and additives. Solvents soften many ordinary coatings, and spilled resins harden onto floors. A solvent resistant epoxy system in mixing, filling and storage areas makes cleaning easier and stops concrete absorbing spills. Where flammable solvents are present, antistatic properties may be required, and we check this with your safety team.

Battery charging bays

Warehouses and factories charging forklift batteries need acid resistant floors in charging bays. A coved novolac epoxy lining with a low bund contains sulphuric acid spills and protects the slab and nearby racks.

Effluent treatment plants

Plating, pickling and chemical effluent is aggressive. ETP floors, channels and pits need linings chosen for the effluent's chemistry, especially where acidic streams and hydrogen sulphide are present.

Preparation in heavy industrial plants

Floors in Ghaziabad's older plants usually have deep acid damage, oil contamination and cracks from heavy traffic and vibration. Before lining, we:

  1. break out damaged and contaminated concrete
  2. neutralise acid-soaked areas and let them dry
  3. treat exposed reinforcement
  4. rebuild the base and correct falls to drains
  5. repair cracks and plan joint details

Only then is the chemical resistant system installed.

FAQs

Will resin flooring survive steel coils being dropped?

A thick, aggregate-filled screed handles normal handling. In zones where coils are dropped regularly, acid resistant tiles or bricks in chemical resistant mortar are usually more durable.

Can the pickling line keep running during the work?

The area being lined must be dry and out of use during installation and curing. We plan work around shutdowns or in sections.

What should we send before the site visit?

Your chemical list with concentrations and temperatures, photos of the damaged areas and a rough layout.
