Small and mid-sized manufacturers in Ambala often use one hall for several jobs. Mixer grinder and appliance makers assemble motors, test products and pack them in the same space. Instrument makers machine small parts, assemble, calibrate and dispatch. The floor in these halls sees dropped components, trolleys, lubricating oils and cleaning chemicals, all at once. Instead of laying different systems in each corner, many units want one floor that handles it all. EPU flooring, an epoxy-polyurethane hybrid, is well suited to that.

Why a hybrid suits mixed-use halls

Impact. Dropped motor housings, metal parts and tools chip rigid epoxy. EPU's polyurethane content absorbs more of the impact.

Wear. Trolleys and hand pallet trucks wear soft floors quickly. EPU keeps much of epoxy's hardness.

Oils and cleaners. Assembly and machining use light oils, greases and solvent cleaners. EPU resists common workshop chemicals.

Appearance. A clean, bright, colour-stable floor helps product quality checks and makes a good impression on visiting buyers.

Planning the layout

A single EPU system can still be finished differently in different zones:

  1. Assembly and testing: smooth topcoat in a light colour so small parts are easy to find
  2. Machining area: a slightly textured topcoat for grip where oil is present
  3. Walkways: anti-slip texture and yellow marking
  4. Packing and dispatch: standard finish with pallet zone marking

That way, the floor works as one system with one maintenance routine.

When a different system is better

EPU isn't the answer everywhere. For electroplating, etching or acid cleaning areas, a chemical resistant floor is needed. For areas with hot liquids or steam, PU concrete is better. For static-sensitive electronics assembly, an antistatic floor is required. We'll point these out during the survey.

Old floors in older buildings

Many Ambala units are in older buildings with patched, uneven floors. Before coating, patches are checked and weak ones removed, cracks and joints repaired, and low spots filled. A coating on a poor base shows every flaw and fails at the weak points first.

Keeping production going

Small units can't stop for long. We often work in halves, finishing one side of the hall before moving production over, or over holidays and weekends. Foot traffic can usually return in about a day.

FAQs

Is EPU more expensive than epoxy?

Somewhat, yes. In halls with impact and trolleys, it usually lasts longer and needs fewer repairs, which often balances the cost.

Can the floor have different colours for different zones?

Yes. Zones and walkways can be marked in different colours as part of the same job.

Will dropped heavy parts still damage it?

Very heavy drops can mark any floor, but EPU resists chipping much better than standard epoxy.
