EPU flooring is an epoxy-polyurethane hybrid. It takes the hardness, adhesion and chemical resistance of epoxy and adds some of the flexibility, impact resistance and colour stability of polyurethane. In practice, that means a floor that holds up better than plain epoxy in places where epoxy tends to crack, chip or turn yellow. In Delhi, those places are often closer than you'd think: the first ten metres inside a warehouse shutter, a showroom with glass frontage, or a service floor where heavy parts get dropped.

Where plain epoxy struggles in Delhi

Near open shutters. Delhi summer sun streams through loading doors for hours. Standard epoxy yellows under UV, so warehouses end up with an amber band inside every door. The hybrid resists this far better.

Temperature swings. A slab near a shutter goes from cool at dawn to very hot by afternoon, and back. Rigid epoxy can develop hairline cracks from that daily movement. EPU's extra flexibility copes better.

Impact. Dropped pallets, tools and parts chip hard epoxy at the edges. EPU absorbs more of the impact before it damages.

Typical uses in Delhi

  • Warehouse aisles and loading zones in Narela, Bawana and Okhla
  • Car and two-wheeler showrooms with large windows
  • Vehicle service floors, where oil and dropped tools meet
  • Light assembly and packing halls
  • Retail back-of-house areas with trolleys

EPU compared with other options

Very smooth, quiet, cleanroom-style finishPU self levelling
Occupied building, low odour neededEpoxy-PU hybrid WB, the water-based version

EPU usually costs more than basic epoxy and less than thicker PU systems. It's a good middle choice for floors that face a bit of everything.

Installation

  1. Survey: slab moisture, strength, cracks and how the floor is used
  2. Grinding or shot blasting to open the concrete surface
  3. Crack and joint repair
  4. Primer
  5. EPU body coat, usually applied at around 1 to 3 mm depending on traffic
  6. Topcoat, with anti-slip texture where needed, plus line marking

Foot traffic can usually return in about a day, and vehicles or forklifts after the cure time we specify.

Working in Delhi's buildings

Warehouses and showrooms rarely close. We phase the work by zone, often at night, and control dust with extraction during grinding. For occupied buildings where odour is a concern, the water-based WB version may be a better choice.

FAQs

Is EPU the same as PU flooring?

No. EPU is a hybrid of epoxy and polyurethane. It is harder than most PU floors and more flexible and colour stable than standard epoxy.

Will EPU yellow near our shutters?

It resists yellowing much better than standard epoxy. For areas with very strong sun, a UV-stable topcoat adds more protection.

Can it go over our existing epoxy floor?

Often yes, if the old epoxy is well bonded. We grind it, repair loose areas and apply EPU on top.
