PU floor coating in Agra

Agra's floors take a beating in ways people don't always expect. The potato cold storages spread across the district run close to freezing for months. Footwear units have adhesives and solvents dripping near every workbench. Sweet makers and hotel kitchens wash their floors with hot water every day. A polyurethane coating copes with all three better than bare concrete or a basic epoxy.

Cold storages and chambers

This is where PU earns its keep in Agra. Concrete in a cold chamber goes through a lot. It is loaded with moist produce, cooled, then opened and warmed during loading season. Rigid coatings tend to crack and lift at the chamber door, where the temperature change is sharpest.

PU keeps some flexibility at low temperatures, so it holds up better at that door line. We also pay attention to the joint between the chamber floor and the outside apron, because that is where water gets under a coating first.

One practical note: we can't coat a chamber that is still cold and damp from the last season. It has to be emptied, warmed and dried out, so plan the work for the months when the storage is empty.

Footwear and leather goods units

Agra has a large shoe manufacturing cluster, and the floors in cutting and stitching sections see solvent-based adhesives, dragged trolleys and a lot of footfall. A PU coating resists the adhesives, and because it is smooth, the sweeping at the end of each shift is quicker. We can mark separate zones for cutting, stitching and finishing in different colours.

Hotels, kitchens and sweet shops

Petha and mithai kitchens deal with sugar syrup, hot water and constant mopping. Syrup that seeps into concrete attracts insects and turns the surface sticky. PU seals the floor so it can be scrubbed properly. For hotels, we usually coat back-of-house areas like kitchens, laundry rooms and service corridors.

How the work is done

1. Inspection. We check moisture, old repairs and oil or syrup contamination. Sugar in concrete is a real problem for adhesion, so contaminated patches are cut out.
2. Preparation. Grinding or shot blasting, crack repair, and an epoxy or PU primer.
3. Coating. One or two PU coats, with anti-slip texture where the floor stays wet.
4. Handover. Foot traffic after about a day. We tell you when you can put back the full load and restart the cooling.

Because Agra falls in the Taj Trapezium Zone, some of our clients care about fumes during application. Water-based and low-odour PU options are available for those sites.

FAQs

Can PU coating be applied inside a potato cold storage?

Yes, but only when the chamber is empty, warm and dry. Coating a cold, damp slab leads to poor bonding. Most owners schedule it between seasons.

Is PU better than epoxy for a sweet shop kitchen?

Usually yes. PU handles hot water and sugar-based spills better, and it is less likely to crack where hot and cold areas meet.

How long does the job take for a small unit?

For a few thousand square feet with normal repairs, plan for three to five days including curing. Larger or heavily damaged floors take longer.
