PU floor coating in Chandigarh

In Chandigarh, floor coating work splits into two kinds. One is factory and workshop floors in Industrial Area Phase I and II, and across the border in Mohali and Panchkula. The other is commercial space: hospitals, clinics, showrooms, restaurants and institutional buildings. Both benefit from polyurethane coating, but for different reasons.

For commercial and healthcare buildings

In commercial spaces the floor is on show, so appearance matters as much as durability. The complaint we hear most often about epoxy in these buildings is yellowing. Standard epoxy changes colour under sunlight and even under some lighting, and a light grey showroom floor slowly turns beige. A UV-stable aliphatic PU coat keeps its colour, which is why we often use it as the top layer on commercial jobs.

Hospitals and clinics need floors that can be disinfected many times a day without the surface breaking down. PU coatings are non-porous and hold up well to routine hospital cleaning. We can also create coved skirting at the wall junction, so dirt has no corner to collect in.

For industrial units in the tricity

Workshops, light engineering and electronics assembly units in the Industrial Area and Mohali's industrial phases usually need a floor that:

• doesn't shed concrete dust onto machines and products
• resists oil, coolant and hydraulic fluid
• can be marked into walkways and work zones
• is easy to sweep and mop at the end of the day

A PU coating covers all four. If you handle static-sensitive electronics, ask about antistatic ESD flooring instead, because a normal PU coat does not control static.

Working in occupied buildings

Most of our Chandigarh jobs happen while the building is in use. Hospitals can't close a ward and showrooms don't want to lose a weekend of sales. So we:

• work in sections, often at night
• use low-odour or water-based PU where people are nearby
• dust-extract during grinding
• agree access routes and handover times in advance

Our process

We inspect the floor first. Many commercial buildings have a tiled or polished stone floor, and not every surface can be coated directly. Where the base is sound, we grind, repair, prime and apply the PU coating. Where tiles are hollow or loose, we tell you before quoting, because coating over them will fail.

Normal foot traffic can usually return after 24 hours. Heavy trolleys and full cleaning come a few days later.

FAQs

Can PU coating go over existing tiles in a Chandigarh showroom?

Sometimes. If the tiles are firmly bonded, we can grind, prime and coat over them. Loose or hollow tiles have to be removed or fixed first, or the coating will crack along the tile joints.

Which is better for a hospital corridor, epoxy or PU?

We usually recommend PU as the top layer. It keeps its colour better and is slightly more forgiving underfoot. Epoxy can still be used as the base coat to build thickness.
