Ludhiana's factories cover a very wide range. Hosiery and knitwear units sit a few streets away from bicycle part makers, auto component plants and dyeing houses along Tajpur Road. The floors in these places don't face the same conditions, so the right coating in one unit can be the wrong one in the next. Polyurethane coating is a good answer for a lot of them, but not all.

The dyeing houses deserve a special mention. Hot dye liquor and caustic washes will ruin a thin coating within months. We would steer you towards PU concrete or a chemical resistant floor there, even though it costs more upfront.
Why PU suits Ludhiana's knitwear units
Lint and fibre stick to rough concrete and make sweeping slow. A smooth PU surface lets the whole floor be cleaned in a few minutes. Fabric stays cleaner, and a light grey or off-white floor makes stains and dropped needles easy to spot. PU also dampens noise and feels a little softer underfoot than hard epoxy, which workers standing at machines all day notice.
Winter matters
Ludhiana gets properly cold in December and January, with foggy mornings and cold slabs. Resin coatings need warmth to cure. Below about 10°C they cure slowly and can end up soft or with a white bloom on the surface. In winter we check slab temperature before starting, work during the warmer hours and, if needed, enclose and heat the area. It adds a little time, but it saves you a floor that never cures properly.
How we carry out the work
We begin with a visit to see the floor and ask about your process, machine layout and cleaning. Oil-soaked patches near machines are common in engineering units and have to be cut out, since coatings won't bond to them. Machine foundations and anchor bolts are marked so we coat carefully around them.
After grinding and repairs, we prime and apply the PU coat. We can phase the work around production lines. Foot traffic returns in about a day. Forklifts and full production usually follow within a few days, and we confirm this in writing.
FAQs
Can you coat the floor without moving our knitting machines?
We can coat around fixed machines, but the finish is better and lasts longer when machines are moved for the few days of work. Where moving isn't possible, we seal the edges around the machine bases carefully.
Is PU coating suitable for a dyeing unit?
Not usually. Hot liquor and caustic chemicals need a thicker system such as PU concrete or a chemical resistant floor.
How soon can we restart forklifts?
Usually after about three days, depending on temperature. In winter it can take longer.
