PU floor coating in Sonipat

Sonipat's industrial growth has followed NH-44 north from Delhi. Kundli, Rai and Barhi now have food processing plants, cold chain facilities, packaging units and large warehouses that supply the capital. Many of these buildings went up fast, and a lot of the floors were left as plain trowelled concrete. After a year or two of pallet trucks and wet cleaning, that concrete starts to dust, stain and pit. A polyurethane coating is a cost-effective way to fix it.

Food processing and cold chain

Food units in Kundli need floors that pass hygiene inspections. Bare concrete absorbs spills and harbours bacteria in its pores. A PU coating seals the surface, resists food acids and fats, and can be cleaned with hot water and sanitisers.

PU is also more flexible than epoxy at low temperatures, which matters in cold rooms and chiller areas. Where a cold room door opens onto a warm corridor, rigid coatings tend to crack along that line. PU copes better.

For areas with steam cleaning or boiling spills, we would recommend PU concrete at 6 to 9 mm instead.

What we check before quoting

• Slab age. New warehouse slabs need time to cure. Coating concrete that is only a few weeks old risks blistering.
• Moisture. Sonipat has a high water table in parts, and ground slabs without a proper vapour barrier can stay damp.
• Surface strength. Power-trowelled floors sometimes have a weak top skin that has to be ground off.
• Joints. Warehouse slabs have many saw-cut joints. We decide which ones to fill and which to leave as movement joints.

The job itself

Surface preparation is done with grinders or shot blasting, with dust extraction. Cracks, spalled joints and damaged edges are repaired. Primer is applied, then the PU coating, and line marking if you want it. We can divide large floors into zones so part of the warehouse keeps working.

Foot traffic can return after about a day, and forklifts after a few days depending on temperature.

Our warehouse slab is only two months old. Can we coat it?

Possibly. Most slabs need about four weeks to cure, but moisture matters more than age. We test the slab and decide.

Do you do line marking along with the coating?

Yes. It is usually cheaper and neater to do both together.

Can the unit keep running during the work?

Yes. We work zone by zone and hand over each area before starting the next.
