Agra's building stock is changing. Hotels are renovating for a steady stream of tourists, private hospitals and diagnostic centres are expanding, and the bigger footwear exporters are setting up proper quality labs to meet buyer audits. All of these need floors that look clean, stay clean and hold up to heavy daily use. PU self levelling flooring is one of the best options for them.

What makes self levelling different from a coating

A normal floor coating is rolled on in thin layers and follows the shape of the concrete underneath, including its dips and trowel marks. Self levelling PU is poured thicker, typically 2 to 4 mm, and flows out to form its own flat, smooth surface. The result is a glossy or satin floor with no joints, no grout and a much more finished appearance.

Because it is polyurethane rather than epoxy, it is a little more elastic. That helps in Agra, where summer slab temperatures get very high and air-conditioned rooms sit right next to hot service areas.

Where it fits in Agra

Hotels. Corridors, gyms, spas and staff areas. It muffles the noise of luggage trolleys and room service carts in corridors, which guests notice more than you would think.

Hospitals and diagnostic centres. Wards, labs, imaging rooms and corridors that are disinfected constantly. We add coved skirting at the walls for hygiene.

Footwear export units. QC labs, sample rooms and buyer inspection areas. A clean, well-finished floor helps these rooms make the right impression during audits.

Showrooms and offices. A modern plain floor that doesn't need polishing like marble.

Heat and dust during installation

Agra summers are tough on resin work. A slab that has been in the sun can be far hotter than the air, and PU poured on a hot slab sets too quickly to level properly. In peak summer we cool the building, work early in the day and mix smaller batches.

Dust is the other problem. Fine dust settling on a freshly poured floor leaves specks in the finish. We seal the room, stop other trades from working nearby and keep doors shut until the surface has skinned over.

Preparing an old floor

Many Agra buildings have marble, kota stone or mosaic floors. These can often be overlaid after grinding, which saves the cost and mess of breaking them out. We check for hollow areas by tapping, remove anything loose, repair cracks and level out uneven joints between slabs before priming.

FAQs

Can PU self levelling flooring go over marble in a hotel corridor?

Yes, if the marble is well bonded. We grind it to remove the polish, fill joints and prime before pouring.

Is the floor slippery?

A gloss finish can feel slippery with wet shoes. For entrances or areas that get wet, we use a matt topcoat with fine anti-slip texture.

How long before rooms can be used again?

Foot traffic is usually possible after 24 hours. Furniture, beds and trolleys can go back after a few days, depending on temperature.
