Chandigarh has a taste for clean, simple design, and more building owners here now want a floor to match. Offices in the IT park, design studios, clinics, cafes and showrooms are choosing PU self levelling flooring for a plain, continuous look with no tile grid. It also happens to be practical: it is quiet, comfortable underfoot and easy to maintain.

A floor for commercial interiors

The appeal is mostly visual. A self levelling PU floor is one smooth surface from wall to wall, available in almost any solid colour, with a gloss, satin or matt finish. It works well with polished concrete, exposed brick and minimalist interiors.

The practical advantages matter too:

  • It is warmer and softer underfoot than tiles or epoxy, and it reduces footstep noise in open offices.
  • PU topcoats resist yellowing, so a light grey or white floor stays that colour near large windows.
  • Spills don't soak in, and there are no grout lines to go dark.
  • Scratches and scuffs can be repaired locally, and the whole floor can be recoated in a few years without being torn out.

Healthcare and labs in the tricity

The tricity has a large healthcare sector, from major hospitals to small specialist clinics in Sector 34, Mohali and Panchkula. For clinics, dental practices, IVF labs and diagnostic centres, a jointless floor with coved skirting is easier to keep clean than tiles. An antistatic grade is available for rooms with sensitive equipment.

For light industrial units in Industrial Area Phase I and II or Mohali's industrial phases, it suits electronics assembly, packaging and QC rooms where dust has to be kept down.

Honest limitations

We tell every client in Chandigarh the same three things before they commit.

Hard point loads can dent it. A very heavy piece of furniture with narrow metal legs can mark a PU floor. Felt pads or wider feet solve this.

It shows the base. Self levelling hides small imperfections, but a floor that is not flat will show gentle waves under a glossy finish. A matt finish is more forgiving, and screeding the base first is sometimes necessary.

Colours vary slightly between batches. For large areas, we order all the material in one batch so the colour is consistent.

Doing the work in an occupied building

Most commercial jobs in Chandigarh are fit-outs or renovations with deadlines. We coordinate with the interior contractor so the floor goes down after messy trades like ceilings and electrical work, but before furniture arrives. In occupied offices and clinics we work at night or on weekends and use low-odour products.

Installation

We survey and moisture-test the slab, grind the existing surface, repair cracks and screed low spots. After priming, the PU is poured and spread to 2 to 3 mm for most commercial floors, then de-aerated and finished with your chosen topcoat. Foot traffic is possible the next day, and furniture can go back after a few days.

FAQs

Can PU self levelling flooring be used in a cafe or restaurant?

In the seating area, yes. For the kitchen, where there is hot oil, water and a need for drains, we recommend a sloped PU system with anti-slip texture.

Does it look like polished concrete?

It can be made in a grey that looks similar, but it is smoother and more uniform. Some clients prefer that and some prefer real polished concrete. We can show samples of both.

Do you work in Mohali and Panchkula?

Yes, and in Zirakpur, Kharar and Derabassi as well.
