A lot of floors in Agra's cold storages, food units and older factories have the same two problems. They are uneven and pitted from years of wear, and they are often damp, especially near chambers and wash areas. Coating them directly doesn't work. The coating follows every dip and lifts where moisture comes through. Epoxy cementitious flooring is a practical answer to both problems.

What it is

It is a three-part material of epoxy resin, hardener and a cement-based filler, applied to concrete at about 2 to 6 mm. It cures into a hard, dense surface that bonds well to concrete, even concrete with some moisture in it. It is usually grey and matt. It won't look like a showroom floor, but it is tough and easy to wash.

Cold storage grading and loading halls

Potato cold storages around Agra have busy halls where produce is sorted, graded and loaded. These floors get:

  • mud and water from produce and trucks
  • heavy trolleys and sacks being dragged
  • washing down at the end of the day
  • temperature changes near chamber doors

Bare concrete here breaks up into potholes. An epoxy cementitious floor levels the surface, handles washing and wear, and copes with damp concrete near the chambers better than a plain epoxy coating would.

Food processing wet areas

Sweet makers, namkeen units and small food processors often have wash areas and processing rooms with worn, porous floors. Epoxy cementitious gives a sealed, washable surface at a lower cost than PU concrete. It suits moderate conditions. For boiling syrup, steam or very hot washdowns, PU concrete is still the better choice.

Levelling old factory floors

Older units in Foundry Nagar and Sikandra often have floors with trenches from old machines, patched areas and uneven slabs. Epoxy cementitious mortar can fill and level these, giving a sound base for a finish coating, or serving as the finished floor in stores and workshops.

Working in Agra's heat

Like all resin-based systems, epoxy cementitious sets faster on a hot slab. In summer we mix smaller batches, work in the cooler hours and keep materials out of the sun, so the material can be spread and finished properly.

FAQs

Can it be applied inside a cold chamber?

Only when the chamber is empty, warmed up and cleaned. It can't be applied to a frozen or wet slab.

Can we add a coloured coating later?

Yes. Epoxy cementitious makes a good base for an epoxy or PU topcoat.

How long before trolleys can use it?

Usually after a few days, depending on thickness and temperature. We confirm for your job.
