Epoxy cementitious flooring in Delhi

Two kinds of Delhi projects keep leading us to epoxy cementitious flooring. The first is basement space. Stores, clinics, gyms and offices in basements often have damp slabs where resin floors fail. The second is fit-out projects with tight deadlines, where a new slab hasn't had time to dry before the finish floor is due. In both cases, epoxy cementitious lets the project go ahead without risking a failed floor.

Damp basements

Delhi basements often sit below the groundwater line during and after the monsoon. Even with waterproofing, slabs can carry moisture. A normal epoxy or PU floor laid on such a slab may look fine for weeks and then start to blister.

Epoxy cementitious is more tolerant because it contains cement as well as epoxy. We use it:

• as the finished floor in basement stores, plant rooms and parking service areas
• as a moisture-tolerant base under a PU or epoxy topcoat in clinics, gyms and offices

Active leaks through walls or the slab must be treated first. No floor system can hold back running water.

Fast-track fit-outs

Retail, office and healthcare fit-outs in Delhi usually run to a fixed opening date. When the slab is new, or a fresh screed has just been laid, the flooring contractor is often told to go ahead regardless. Laying resin on a wet screed is a common cause of later failures.

Many epoxy cementitious systems can be applied to younger concrete than pure resin floors, within the manufacturer's limits, and act as a temporary moisture barrier. It gives the programme a safe way to keep moving. We test the slab and tell you whether it will work for your date.

Levelling old floors

Older commercial buildings often have uneven floors after partitions, tiles and services are removed. Epoxy cementitious mortar fills and levels these areas, giving a sound base for a self levelling floor or coating without breaking out the old screed.

Wet service areas

Pantries, washrooms, garbage rooms and service corridors in commercial buildings get wet often. Epoxy cementitious flooring provides a washable, durable floor for these back-of-house areas at lower cost than PU concrete.

Working in occupied buildings

We work at night or on weekends where needed, contain dust during preparation and coordinate with building management. The material has little odour compared with solvent-based coatings.

FAQs

How much faster can we lay the finish floor on a new slab?

It depends on the product and slab conditions. In many cases it shortens the wait considerably. We check the manufacturer's data and test the slab.

Can it go under vinyl or carpet?

It is mainly used under resin finishes. For vinyl or carpet, the adhesive manufacturer's requirements for moisture barriers should be checked.

Our basement leaks after rain. Is this enough?

Not on its own. Leaks need to be treated first, then the floor can be laid.
