Lucknow has many older buildings: government offices, hospitals, colleges and heritage-era structures converted to new uses. Their ground floors often suffer from rising damp and uneven, patched slabs. When these buildings are renovated, owners want modern resin floors, but resin laid directly on damp, uneven concrete fails. Epoxy cementitious flooring is the layer that makes those renovations work.

Renovating older buildings

In old Lucknow buildings we typically find:

  • ground-floor slabs without a damp-proof membrane, so moisture rises constantly
  • several generations of flooring, such as old terrazzo, cement screed and tiles
  • level differences where walls were removed or rooms extended
  • patches from old plumbing and electrical work

Removing everything down to a new slab is expensive and disruptive. Instead, we remove loose material, repair the base and lay an epoxy cementitious layer. It bonds to the damp concrete, fills and levels uneven areas, and gives a stable base for a new floor on top.

Under PU self levelling floors

Hospitals, labs and offices often want a smooth PU self levelling floor. Those floors need a flat, dry base. Epoxy cementitious provides both: it levels the surface and acts as a moisture barrier. It is one of the most common reasons we use it in Lucknow.

Hospital basements and service areas

Basements in Lucknow hospitals house laundries, CSSD, stores and plant rooms, often on damp slabs. Epoxy cementitious flooring on its own gives a tough, washable floor in plant rooms and stores. In CSSD and other hygienic areas, a hygienic topcoat goes on top.

Kitchens

Institutional and restaurant kitchens can use epoxy cementitious as a washable, moderately heat-tolerant floor. For busy commercial kitchens with steam and boiling water, PU concrete is still the better option.

What it can and can't do

  2. Removal of loose finishes and preparation of the base
  3. Repair of cracks, holes and patches
  4. Epoxy cementitious applied to level and seal
  5. Finish floor, if specified, once the base has cured

FAQs

Our heritage building has damp floors. Is this suitable?

Often yes, because it tolerates moisture and can be laid without major demolition. We assess each building's condition first.

How much level difference can it correct?

It handles minor to moderate unevenness well. Large level differences may need a separate screed first.

Can the building stay in use?

Yes. We work in phases, room by room.
