Epoxy-PU hybrid floor coating (water-based) in Delhi

The biggest obstacle to recoating a floor in a working Delhi building is usually the smell. Solvent-based epoxy and PU coatings give off strong fumes, so offices, clinics and schools either have to close for days or live with complaints. Our epoxy-PU hybrid WB is the water-based version of our EPU hybrid system. It keeps much of the toughness and colour stability of the hybrid, with far lower odour and low VOC content, so work can happen at night and the space can usually reopen the next day.

What "water-based" means in practice

The resin is carried in water rather than solvents. As the water evaporates and the coating cures, very little odour is released compared with solvent-based products. The trade-offs are worth knowing:

1. Each coat is thinner. Building thickness takes more coats, and very thick build-ups aren't practical.
2. Drying depends on air. Ventilation, temperature and humidity affect how quickly it dries. Delhi's humid monsoon days and cold winter nights slow it down.
3. It suits moderate traffic. For heavy forklift routes and high impact, the solvent-free EPU hybrid is the stronger choice.

Where it fits among our systems

A typical overnight job

• Evening: clean and lightly grind the floor, repair cracks, apply primer
• Night: apply the hybrid WB coats with fans running for airflow
• Morning: light foot traffic, often, depending on temperature and humidity
• Following days: full use and furniture back once the coating has cured

We confirm the timeline after seeing the space, because Delhi's weather changes drying times a lot between seasons.

Walls and other surfaces

The same water-based hybrid can be used on walls in corridors, clinics and pantries, giving a washable, low-odour finish that matches the floor.

FAQs

Is there any smell at all?

There is some mild odour during application, much less than solvent-based coatings, and it clears quickly with ventilation.

Can it go over an existing epoxy floor?

Usually, yes, if the existing floor is sound. We clean, lightly abrade and repair it before coating.

Is it as tough as solvent-free EPU?

It is durable for foot and trolley traffic. For forklifts and heavy impact, solvent-free EPU is stronger.
