Aligarh is famous for locks, and its hardware industry has grown to include builders' hardware, brass fittings and metal components sold across India. A typical unit has machining, pressing, polishing, electroplating, assembly and packing, often in the same building. That mix makes flooring decisions important. Epoxy flooring is a strong choice for assembly, packing and machining areas, but the plating and polishing sections need something tougher.

Plating areas need special attention

Many Aligarh units have their own plating lines for nickel, chrome, brass and zinc finishes. Acids and plating chemicals dripping from racks and tanks destroy ordinary concrete and standard epoxy quickly. For these areas we recommend:

  1. removing and neutralising acid-damaged concrete
  2. a chemical resistant lining, usually novolac epoxy or vinyl ester depending on the chemicals
  3. coves up walls and tank plinths
  4. falls to a lined sump so spills are contained

This protects the building and helps keep chemicals out of the ground.

Assembly and packing

Assembly benches handle small springs, pins and screws. A light grey self levelling epoxy floor makes dropped parts easy to find and keeps the area clean. Packing halls benefit from dust control so finished locks and fittings stay clean in their boxes.

Institutions and commercial buildings

Aligarh's universities, colleges, hospitals and shops also use epoxy in corridors, labs, stores and showrooms. Occupied buildings where odour matters can use the water-based epoxy-PU hybrid WB.

Preparation in older units

Many hardware units in Aligarh run in older buildings with oil-soaked floors, broken joints and patchy repairs. Before coating, we cut out oil-soaked and chemically damaged concrete, rebuild joints and fill cracks. It takes time, but it's what makes the new floor last.

Planning

Aligarh is a few hours' drive from Delhi. We plan a site visit to see every section, test moisture and review chemicals, then a written, area-by-area proposal and phased installation around production.

FAQs

Can standard epoxy be used near our plating tanks?

No. Plating areas need a chemical resistant lining. Standard epoxy will be damaged by the acids.

Which floor colour is best for lock assembly?

Light grey or off-white, so small parts are easy to spot.

Can the unit keep running during the work?

Yes. We phase work section by section.
