Epoxy flooring in Ayodhya

Ayodhya is going through a building boom. New hotels, guest houses, dharamshalas, restaurants and commercial complexes are going up to serve the huge number of pilgrims and visitors. Many owners are asking whether epoxy flooring is a good choice. For many indoor areas it is. But Ayodhya has one situation most cities don't: large numbers of people walking barefoot, sometimes outdoors in the sun. That changes which floors are safe and comfortable.

Barefoot and outdoor areas: be careful

Glossy epoxy isn't a good choice for areas where people walk barefoot outdoors or in the sun:

• Heat. Dark or even mid-coloured resin floors in direct sun get very hot, uncomfortably so for bare feet.
• Slipperiness. Smooth epoxy becomes slippery when wet, and barefoot visitors after rain or washing are at real risk.
• UV. Standard epoxy yellows and chalks outdoors.

For outdoor walkways, courtyards and entrances used barefoot, stone, textured tiles or specialist cool, textured outdoor coatings are safer. If a resin coating is used, it should be light-coloured, UV-stable and strongly textured for grip.

Indoor areas where epoxy works well

Hotel back-of-house. Service corridors, stores, laundries and staff areas need tough, washable floors.

Guest house and dharamshala corridors. Indoor corridors with heavy footfall benefit from a durable, easy-clean surface with anti-slip texture.

Restaurant dining areas. Self levelling epoxy is seamless and easy to mop. Kitchens are better with PU concrete.

Commercial complexes and shops. Shop floors and indoor common areas get a modern, clean finish.

Parking and basements. A textured epoxy or car park coating controls dust and improves grip.

New buildings, fast programmes

Many Ayodhya projects are racing to open. The biggest risk for epoxy in new buildings is slab moisture. Fresh concrete holds a lot of water, and epoxy laid too early blisters, sometimes after the building has opened. We test moisture before committing to a date. If the programme can't wait, a moisture-tolerant primer or an epoxy cementitious base can help.

Heavy footfall

Pilgrimage peaks bring enormous crowds. Floors in busy indoor areas need:

1. a thicker, more durable build than a basic coating
2. anti-slip texture where floors may get wet
3. light colours that don't show dust as much
4. a topcoat that can be refreshed without redoing the whole floor
