Delhi's epoxy flooring work is split between two worlds. In Okhla, Naraina, Mayapuri and Wazirpur, older industrial buildings need tougher, cleaner floors for factories, warehouses and workshops, and many are being converted into offices, studios and showrooms. Across the city, shops, basement gyms, salons and homes want a modern seamless finish instead of tiles. Both can be done with epoxy, but the right system, and the preparation behind it, is very different.

Old industrial buildings

Floors in Delhi's older industrial areas usually have a history: oil-soaked patches near old machines, trenches where equipment was removed, broken joints and layers of paint. Before epoxy goes on, we:

  1. grind off old paint and weak concrete
  2. cut out oil-soaked areas, since epoxy won't bond to oily concrete
  3. fill trenches and repair broken joints
  4. level uneven areas so the finish looks even

Then we lay the system that fits the use. That is usually a coating for stores and offices, self levelling epoxy for studios and clean workspaces, or an epoxy screed where trolleys and heavy loads move around.

Converted studios, offices and showrooms

When a workshop becomes a design studio or showroom, owners often want the floor to look deliberate rather than industrial. Options include:

  • Solid-colour self levelling epoxy in grey, white or a brand colour
  • Flake floors, which hide dust and wear
  • Metallic epoxy for a statement reception or display area

Remember that standard epoxy yellows in sunlight. For glass-fronted showrooms, ask for a UV-stable topcoat or consider EPU flooring.

Basement gyms, salons and homes

Delhi basements are often turned into gyms, studios, salons or family rooms. Epoxy gives them a clean, washable floor. Two things need attention:

Moisture. Basement slabs are often damp, especially after the monsoon. Epoxy over damp concrete blisters, so we test moisture and use a moisture-tolerant base where needed.

Heavy weights. In gyms, dropped weights will damage any hard floor. Rubber mats in weight areas are still necessary.

Overlays on old mosaic floors

Many older Delhi homes and offices have mosaic or terrazzo floors. Where these are well bonded, epoxy can go over them after grinding and filling cracks, which avoids noisy demolition. Hollow or loose sections are removed and patched first.

Working around Delhi's rules

Commercial buildings and residential areas often restrict noise, work hours and material movement. We plan grinding for permitted hours, use dust extraction, and can do coating stages overnight. Small shops can often be completed over a weekend.

FAQs

Can epoxy be laid over our old mosaic floor?

Usually, yes, if it is well bonded. We grind it, fill cracks and replace loose sections before coating.

Is epoxy suitable for a basement gym?

Yes, for the general floor. Use rubber mats in free-weight areas.

Will epoxy yellow in our shop?

Standard epoxy can, near sunlight. A UV-stable topcoat or an EPU system prevents this.
