Most of Himachal Pradesh's manufacturing sits in a few pockets close to the plains. The Baddi, Barotiwala and Nalagarh belt in Solan district is one of India's biggest pharma clusters, with FMCG, packaging and textile units around it. Parwanoo near Chandigarh and Kala Amb in Sirmaur have industrial areas of their own. Further into the hills, the work is mainly hotels, hospitals, schools and homes.

Pharma plants set the standard

Because so much of the state's industry is pharma, floors here are usually judged against audit requirements, not just looks or price. Different rooms in the same plant need different floors:

Area in the plantRequirementUsual system
Cleanrooms, filling and packingSeamless, easy to clean, coved at wallsPU or epoxy self levelling
Washing, utility and canteen kitchensHot water, steam, chemicalsPU concrete
Warehouses and dispatchForklifts, dustEpoxy coating or concrete densifier
Electrical, instrument and electronics roomsStatic controlAntistatic and ESD flooring
Cleanroom and process wallsWashable, no joints to trap dirtHygienic wall coating and coving

When a plant keeps running during the work, odour becomes a real problem, especially near production and packing. In those areas a water-based epoxy-PU hybrid is often the better choice.

Climate and access

Winter. Mornings in the Baddi valley get cold, and higher sites much colder. Resin cures slowly on a cold slab, so the schedule allows extra curing time before the floor is used.

Monsoon. Heavy rain raises humidity and can close hill roads. Material is delivered before work starts, and roof and external waterproofing is kept to the dry months.

Shutdowns. Most plant floor work happens during planned shutdowns. Preparation, coats and cure times are fitted into that window, with the schedule agreed before work begins.

What to share before a site visit

A quick call goes further if you have a few details ready:

  1. a rough area for each room or zone, with photos of the current floor
  2. which rooms are cleanrooms, washdown areas, stores or electrical rooms
  3. the cleaning chemicals used and how hot the wash water gets
  4. your shutdown dates, or whether parts of the plant must keep running
  5. any floor or wall specification from your quality or engineering team

FAQs

Can the floor be done during a plant shutdown?

Yes. The work is planned so the floor has cured before production restarts.

Can you provide documents for our quality files?

We can share product technical data sheets for the systems used.

Is there a low-odour option for areas that stay in use?

Yes, water-based epoxy-PU hybrid flooring has much lower odour than solvent-based systems.

Do you work beyond Baddi, for example in Parwanoo or Kala Amb?

Yes, call with your site location and we'll plan the visit.
