Wall coating and coving in Dehradun

Walls in Dehradun deal with a lot of moisture. The monsoon is long, many buildings sit against hillsides, and kitchens and laundries add steam of their own. Damp first, coating second

Before quoting, we check walls with a moisture meter and look for:

• seepage through walls cut into slopes
• rising damp along the lower part of walls
• leaks from terraces, bathrooms or tanks above
• condensation from kitchens and laundries with poor ventilation

Each needs a different fix. Seepage and leaks are treated at the source. Rising damp needs a damp treatment at the wall base. Condensation needs better ventilation as well as a moisture-resistant coating. Coating over any of these without dealing with the cause wastes money.

School and hostel kitchens

Dehradun's boarding schools feed hundreds of students every day. Kitchen walls get steam, grease and constant cleaning. We usually coat walls to at least splash height, often full height, with a cove at the floor joined to a PU concrete floor. The result is a kitchen that can be deep-cleaned during holidays and wiped down every day.

Mould treatment

Many walls we survey already have mould. Painting over mould doesn't kill it. We remove mouldy paint and plaster, treat the wall with a biocidal wash, let it dry, and only then prime and coat. The coating itself resists mould much better than paint because it doesn't hold moisture.
